Refund policy
Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy
Thank you for shopping with Mini World Emporium.
As a small independent UK business, we take care in selecting, checking and dispatching our products. We aim to provide accurate product descriptions and a fair returns process.
This policy applies to purchases made through our website and at our physical store at Afflecks, Manchester.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights.
1. Online Orders – 14-Day Cancellation Right
For most products purchased online, you have the legal right to cancel your order without giving a reason.
You must notify us of your decision to cancel within 14 days after the day you receive your goods.
Once you have notified us, you have a further 14 days to return the items.
To cancel, please contact us using the details on our website, clearly stating your intention to cancel and providing your order number where possible.
Certain statutory exceptions may apply, including qualifying personalised products.
2. Return Postage
For change-of-mind cancellations, customers are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods.
Where goods are faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described, Mini World Emporium will meet its legal obligations regarding reasonable return costs.
We do not charge restocking or administration fees for statutory cancellations.
3. Book Nooks, DIY Kits and Miniatures
Our DIY book nooks and miniature kits contain numerous small, delicate components intended for assembly.
Customers purchasing online have the right to open and reasonably inspect products in accordance with their statutory consumer rights.
Once assembly has commenced, including gluing, cutting, painting, permanently joining or modifying components, the kit may no longer be suitable for resale.
For online change-of-mind cancellations, where assembly or handling exceeds what is reasonably necessary to inspect the product, Mini World Emporium reserves the right to make a lawful deduction reflecting the actual reduction in the product’s value.
Where the customer’s actions have rendered the kit entirely unsuitable for resale, this deduction may amount to the full purchase price, where legally justified.
Mini World Emporium is not responsible for missing, lost or damaged components resulting from customer misuse, accidental damage or incorrect assembly.
For purchases made in our physical store, we do not accept change-of-mind returns on kits that have been opened or started, unless otherwise agreed.
This policy does not affect statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet applicable consumer protection requirements.
4. Returning Products Safely
Please return all available components, instructions, accessories and original packaging.
Items should be securely packaged in a suitable outer shipping box with sufficient protective materials to prevent damage during transit.
We recommend:
Using a tracked postal service.Obtaining and retaining proof of postage.Selecting appropriate compensation cover.Including your name and order number inside the parcel.
Tracking and insurance are recommended rather than compulsory conditions of a statutory refund.

5. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
We aim to check products before dispatch and sealed. However, if an item arrives faulty, damaged, incomplete or materially different from its description, please contact us.
Photographs of the issue can help us investigate and resolve matters more quickly, although they are not a mandatory condition of exercising statutory rights.
Where appropriate, we may offer replacement components, repairs or exchanges.
These options are offered as practical solutions and do not override any statutory right to a refund or another remedy.
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected.
6. Refunds and Original Delivery Charges
For valid online change-of-mind cancellations, we will refund the purchase price and the applicable standard outbound delivery charge.
If you selected a more expensive delivery service, we are not required to refund the additional amount above our least expensive generally acceptable delivery option.
Where goods must be returned, refunds will be processed without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we receive the returned goods or evidence that they have been sent back, whichever is earlier.
Refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Any lawful deduction for diminished value will be assessed individually.
7. Sale and Discounted Products
Sale and discounted items remain covered by statutory consumer rights.
The usual online cancellation rights generally apply to sale products, subject to any applicable legal exceptions.
8. Personalised Products, Gift Cards and Food
Certain products may be exempt from the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right, depending on their nature.
These may include goods made to a customer’s specifications or clearly personalised, and certain perishable products.
Gift cards and other products will be assessed according to the applicable legal rules and the terms communicated at purchase.
These exceptions do not remove statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods.
9. In-Store Purchases
For products purchased in our physical store, we do not generally offer refunds or exchanges solely because a customer has changed their mind, unless otherwise agreed.
This does not affect statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet legal requirements.
10. Product Design, Manufacturing & International Sourcing
Mini World Emporium is a proudly independent UK business based in Manchester. We carefully select and source our products from a variety of manufacturers, wholesalers, designers and suppliers across the United Kingdom and internationally.
Our products originate from various countries and manufacturing locations, depending on the individual item and supplier.
Our collection includes commercially manufactured products, handmade items, independently designed creations and products created or customised by Mini World Emporium.
Unless specifically stated in the individual product description, items should not be assumed to be manufactured in the UK, handmade, exclusive or produced directly by Mini World Emporium.
As an independent retailer, we source products from different suppliers to offer customers a diverse range of miniature kits, book nooks, collectibles, gifts and novelty items.
The country of manufacture or the presence of another language on packaging does not, by itself, indicate that a product is defective or of inferior quality.
11. Product Packaging, Languages & Instructions
Due to the international nature of our sourcing and manufacturing arrangements, some products may contain additional languages alongside English.
This may include text printed on:
Original manufacturer’s packaging and protective transport slipcases.Product labels, inserts and printed materials.Assembly instructions and instruction booklets.Individual components or decorative elements, where applicable.
Protective outer packaging and transport slipcases may feature text in another language, including Chinese, and may differ from the packaging shown in product photographs.
Where assembly instructions are supplied, their language content may vary by product and manufacturer. We aim to identify relevant language information in individual product descriptions.
Customers who require confirmation of the language used on a particular product or its instructions are welcome to contact us before purchasing.
Mini World Emporium aims to provide accurate product descriptions and ensure products meet applicable UK product safety requirements, including requirements for English-language safety information where necessary.
The presence of additional languages on packaging does not automatically mean that an item is faulty or incorrectly described.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts customers’ statutory consumer rights, including applicable online cancellation rights and remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
12. Missing Components
If your book nook or miniature kit contains missing or damaged components, please contact us with your order details and a description of the issue.
Where possible, we may offer to source replacement components as a convenient solution.
This service does not affect your statutory rights to reject faulty goods or request another applicable remedy.
13. Contact and Returns Enquiries
